For one reason or another, Lazar Markovic’s Liverpool career never got off the ground following his 2014 move from Benfica when he was still a precocious and relatively unknown talent.
He permanently moved to Fulham in January 2019 following a series of loans as the now 25-year-old Serbia international struggled to fulfil his potential.
And just recently he spoke to BEIN Sports, offering his thoughts on Jurgen Klopp and the current generation of Liverpool players who are setting the world alight.
It seems that he still feels a strong connection with them as he watches from afar.
Can you name the result these iconic Liverpool images belong to? Give it a go now…
Here’s what he said to BEIN Sports, as quoted by Liverpool Echo:
“I support them, of course, I watch them when I have time. I had a contract for many years there and of course, I will always watch them. I think Klopp knows very well what he’s doing, you can see they are first and 100% they will win the title.”
Upon seeing his words many fans had mixed reactions.
Plenty of them still seem to rate the 22-cap Serbia international highly and feel it’s a shame the move didn’t work out for either party.
Interestingly enough, many of the supporters feel like his failure was orchestrated by Brendan Rodgers and they pinned the blame on the now Leicester City manager.
To them, the coach is to be held responsible for ruining a rather promising career…
But of course, there are some who just feel Markovic was a bad signing.
One fan even went as far as saying the young Serbian was one of the worst players Liverpool have ever signed…
Elsewhere, many Liverpool fans were saying the same thing about Neco Williams following a brilliant FA Cup display…
